Jam Bumanlag

Guitarist

Primary Band(s):

Wilabaliw, LFG, EVEN

Playstyle & Tone Profile:

NuMetal aggression, groove metal foundation, & semi-hollow clarity.

Musical Journey & Growth

  • The Family Spark: Jam started playing around the age of nine, heavily inspired by his father—a local guitar legend in Pampanga—who taught him his first chords to Juan Dela Cruz's "Himig Natin."
  • Finding the Heavy Groove: His casual interest turned into a serious passion at age 18 in Baguio, where he began forming bands and diving deep into sound design and effects pedals.
  • A Full Circle Moment: Today, he plays for the genre-bending "Pinoy Metal" act Wilabaliw and downtuned groove metal band LFG. He also achieved a surreal, lifelong dream of sharing the stage as a session guitarist for his musical heroes in P.O.T.

Musical Influences &
Sonic Philosophy

  • Sonic Architects: He religiously studies Ian Umali and P.O.T., whose profound sonic influence is the primary reason Jam wields semi-hollow body guitars to this day.
  • The Holy Trinity of Metal: He heavily credits the aggressive musical direction and "no holds barred" stage presence of Slapshock, Greyhoundz, and Queso for shaping his harder-edged sound and performance attitude.

Jam has cemented his place in the local heavy music scene through his versatile guitar work with Wilabaliw, LFG, and EVEN. Beyond anchoring these powerhouse bands, he has earned his own line of signature JCraft guitars (the AR-2, AR-3, and AR-X) and achieved a major career highlight by sessioning for the legendary OPM band P.O.T., bringing his journey from a fan to a peer full circle.
