  • Icons and Unique Vibes: While his major inspirations include bass icons like Geddy Lee, Paul McCartney, and Jaco Pastorius, Mally maintains an open mind, considering every bass player to be an influence as long as they bring a unique, authentic vibe to the instrument.
  • Clarity and Consistency in Tone: To achieve his versatile sound, Mally runs a hybrid rig centered around a Yamaha BB735A and Jazz Basses equipped with Montances Modern Tone and 70's Vintage pickups. Paired with La Bella strings, an HX Stomp, and a Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon preamp, his setup ensures his tone remains punchy, clear, and perfectly gain-staged whether he's laying down an old-school thump or saturated grit.

A defining moment in Mally's career came at the historic 1997 NU Rock Awards. That night, P.O.T swept the ceremony, taking home Best New Artist, Album of the Year, and Drummer of the Year, while Mally himself was crowned Bassist of the Year. The band capped off this monumental evening by closing the show with a legendary performance of "F.Y.B" featuring Butch Saulog and Cooky Chua, solidifying their status as alternative rock heavyweights.
